Not so spicy turkey burgers!

Not a lot happened today apart from going swimming first thing - left everyone in bed- it is school holidays after all. Wished I'd made a shopping list cos i could have nipped to the shops after. But i am not allowed out without my shopping list so needed to return and make it. I have recently tried to plan meals and buy accordingly and yes it is working i don't buy too much - well that's not true i don't buy things i don't need. I did buy 3 Gem lettuces and then felt guilty thinking i should be growing them. So cant win! Went to work for meeting, had lunch and work catch up with team members at same time. Lunch was fab. Goats cheese salad and it was big. the others had yummy looking paninis. I'm on my Atkins diet so did OK. Didn't get home till late and then encouraged daughter no 2 to make spicy turkey burgers which she did- and she did do washing up - shock horror!(of a fashion!) Then had them with home made chips and veg they tasted OK apart from neither of us realising that it should have been tablespoons instead of teaspoon for the soya and chilli sauce. I was not trying to interfere!

First Blog

Well i have been thinking about this for a while so i will get started. Not sure who will read it if anyone?
Decided to think about what roles i have in life - if you ve been on any courses lately that's the sort of thing they ask you. Write down all the roles you undertake in life!
Well here goes. in no particular order!
Wife- married for 24 yrs thought Silver was this year i am not a good mathematician so now i know it is next year hoping to go away for weekend was thinking of a big party but OH would prefer something quiet!
Mother- to two lovely daughters, one 18yrs and about to go to uni and the other 12 years old - just starting teendom.
Daughter- just spent time helping my parents recover from illness - went to stay with them for one week not much time out of a year had quite a good time revisiting old local haunts whilst helping with jobs that needed doing.

Nurse-thats work - NHS - in the community in glorious area so can't complain about that but not allowed to talk about it! about 12 months ago an email came from on high telling us not to discuss anything in blogs etc. so will have to be careful!
Christian- not a very good one although i do try could do with increased spirituality - recently been swearing a lot at work and finding it hard - i think it's all the constraints on the service that gets me going!
Sewer- is that how you spell it? - I used to make the girls all their clothers - not true some of them- dresses & pinafores that sort of things - then found it was cheaper to buy. So only recently got back into it. Made my mother in law a beautiful apron for her birthday don't think she thought it was so beautiful BUT a lot of effort went into it. Going to make my dad one for his birthday it was May but he wont mind he always says he doesn't want anything - he likes cowboy films and so i have some Cath Kidston cowboy material to make a chefs apron looking forward to getting round to it. Also once daughter is off to Uni i thought i could put my sewing machine in her room and then i wont have to keep putting it away.

Cook - ho ho I like cooking but am best at one pot meals and meals for 4. find it difficult after 18years to make any other size except double can cope with that and it makes me feel good knowing i have a meal in freezer.

Dieter- i have never seriously dieted but i have decided since all my clothes and very nice clothes they are, do not fit i need to reduce in size - also my mum has being diagnosed with heart problems and so i feel i should be looking after my heart - but that is just a side line- cant keep buying new clothes to fit! am attempting the aitkin's diet not had anything sweet for two weeks apart from - wait for it - one small raspberry off our fruit bushes - have frozen the rest so i can eat them later!

Housewife- thats another ho ho one! i dont like cleaning etc but do keep the house clean but we have a lot of clutter - which since going on holiday - i feel i need to de clutter even more.

I do think a holiday is good for you cos you return and realise you need to make the house a little more tidy especially after staying in a smart holiday cottage although it also make you appreciate what you have and where you live.

Guider- I am Brown Owl -yes we are still called that - but usually the girls call me by my first name. We are always doing exciting stuff - this year it has been the centenary and so i am going on the GirlGuiding UK Tall Ships Adventure circumnavigating the UK. I will be joining it at Milford Haven sailing to Whitehaven - am so looking forward to it despite not sailing since Norfolk broads holiday as a child!

Poultry-keeper- we have 4 lovely hens who are very artful sneaking and jumping all over my courgettes and when the gate to the vegetable patch blew open in those gales they took advantage and rummaged around in the onion row, the beetroot row and the rocket row!!! my fault for not securing the gate of course!

Gardener- i love gardening but have no patience! well i must have some - i prefer plants that can survive on their own and dont need lots of TLC. Despite the hens my veg are coming on well.

Gerbil looker-after- we used to have 2 - well we have had gerbils for probably 12 years on and off. The last two we had about 3 years and then at New year the white bossy one who would not let pitch the black quiet one have any say let alone food died. Unfortunately it was when we had it freezing here for 32 days in Jan/ feb and I had to wait that long for the ground to thaw to bury her!!. Anyway at the mo we only have pitch who is really enjoying her single existance she gets all the attention & she gets all the food now and seems a very content gerbil.

Car owner- needing one for work and living in a small village with minimal local transport (who doesn't) outside a small town means we need to be a two car family. Ideally we wouldnt but it is quite difficult when you live in a rural area.

Decided i have gone on already too much so will add other roles when they occur to me! Thats why i decided onmy blog name the 'busy' bit not so sure on the 'sew'ing part but also thought that 'so' could incopororate everything else.
